Hemiptera: Pyrrhocoridae
Dindymus versicolor
The scientific family name, Pyrrhocoridae, derives from the Latin roots for "fire" and "bug". Many of the members of this family sport bright red colours.
Another characteristic of Pyrrhocorid bugs is the absence of ocelli, or simple eyes, which many insects have three of situated between their compound eyes.
